Who would’ve thought that a film regarding big, converting machines based on an animated program from the way back eightees would be one of the premier grossing films of all time?
That’s exactly what happened with Michael Bay’s 2006 chartbuster version of the Transformers, presenting Optimus Prime and the valiant Autobots against Megatron and the evil Decepticons for possession of the transcendent All Spark, the maker of all sentient robotic life. Their combat carries on all through centuries, in the unfathomable recesses of the universe, and to our world.
The film solidified the position of Shia LaBeouf – who portrayed Sam Witwicky – as a bankable A-list performer and catapulted Megan Fox – who played Sam’s love pursuit – into fantastic stardom.
It turns up as no shock that the sequel to the flick, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, is one of the most anticipated movies of 2009.
